🌳 A story about patience
Tiku and the Swing
There was one swing on the old banyan tree. And everyone wanted a turn.
The full story (for grown-ups)
There was one swing on the old banyan tree. And everyone wanted a turn.
“Me first!” shouted Gappu. “No, ME!” squawked Mithu. They pushed and they pulled. Nobody got to swing at all.
Slowly, slowly, Tiku walked up. He sat on a rock. “I will wait for my turn,” he said with a smile.
Gappu and Mithu stopped. They felt a little silly. “Let's take turns,” said Gappu. “Ten swings each!”
Gappu swung — one, two… ten! Mithu swung — one, two… ten! And then it was Tiku's turn.
Whee! Tiku swung the highest of all. “Waiting was worth it!” he laughed. And everyone had fun.
Moral of the story: When we wait and take turns, everyone gets to play.
Talk about it together
- How many swings were on the tree?
- What happened when everyone pushed?
- How many swings did each friend get?
- Can you remember a time you showed patience like Gappu’s friends?
